i just came to know gsu (finance phd) contacted someone offering an admission. does anyone know more? any news on other phd finance admission results?

That's a little strange, as GSU's application deadline is 2/15. I believe you, I just find it odd that they would make decisions before the deadline.

Was this a friend that was accepted, or did you just happen to see it posted somewhere?

It normally wouldn't surprise me if an exceptionally well-qualified applicant were accepted early. However, when it happens weeks before the application deadline, with a school that normally matriculates 2-3 students.....it is a little surprising.

If I remember correctly, according to GSU's application instruction, decision will not be made before its app deadline, which is in mid-Feb.
