2006 University of Iowa admission statistics

The University of Iowa Tippie College of Business posted some Ph.D. admissions statistics on their web site:

http://www.biz.uiowa.edu/phd/fall06admstats.pdf

Note that they list Economics admissions statistics too because the U Iowa Department of Economics is located within the Business School. It's quite interesting to compare Economics vs. the other fields within the school of business. The admit rate for Finance Ph.D. seems specially brutal. Only 6 out of 118 applicants admitted. Only 3 chose to enroll. I think this is expected. What's _surprising_ is that Finance, Management Science, and Marketing applicants have just as good, if not better, quantitative GRE scores than Economics applicants. They don't mention the standard errors, but still, who could have expected that!

I don't know of many other schools that do a statistical breakdown among the different departments like this. It's very informative. The Haas School at Berkeley does something similar on their website, but I think most schools cite a combined average or median that covers all disciplines. Does anyone know whether it is typical for general management/OB scores to be so much lower than the overall average, like Iowa and Berkeley statistics suggest?

In any case, thanks for the link!

UMN also posted admission statistics for the past few years that were broken down by fields:

http://www.csom.umn.edu/Assets/46872.pdf

(scroll down to program specific tables)

They don't list GRE scores but they do provide GMAT and average GPA.

Finance admissions ARE particularly brutal; simply because many departments tend to be small and shoot for entering class sizes of between 1-5.
