fyi, final submissions from the various fields to the phd program office are going out by the end of this week, with formal letters being posted by the end of the month. the fields will likely be calling shortlisted candidates personally w.r.t. their apps. from what i heard in my own admit call, about half of the fields have finished their selections and are into the "calls" phase.

(note the caveat that finance and econ seem to run things their own way, and this info may not pertain to them. but my guess would be that it does.)

well, they weren't part of the campus day stuff, and i got the sense at that visit that these groups like to operate more autonomously. but, i think the main phd office has to give final approval for all admitted students across all of the fields, and hence my guess that the timelines for hearing back will be the same regardless of how differently some may seem to work things.

Triptych, when you say end of this week, do you mean Feb 16, or Feb 23. I think I am headed toward a rejection.....
