Which one should I pick? U of Washington or U of Toronto (Canada)? PhD in Finance! I have already turned down the rest of the Canadian offers.
I am currently at UBC (Canada). My reserach interest is in Corporate finance, capital structure and also applied contract theory (optimal executive compensation theory).

toronto is good in everything and their placement is superb. in addition, it is the best in canada. so, what r u waiting for.......
given that you have EE background, u will have fun there.

Depends on your preference for snow vs rain!

I for one am off to UW in the Fall. The 3000 mile drive is going to be interesting!

I've heard that Rotman's placements in finance are improving. last year i think a phd finance student got a paper published in journal of finance! (co-authored)

Yes you are right. It is Dr. Derrien's PhD student. I guess he is going to be on the job market next year.

I think I am leaning towards Toronto. I hope I dont miss a lot by not going to Washington. I'll miss the pacific coast weather!

Hi GradCanada,

Seems like you've made it through and decided on your school as well and won't be coming back to the form much. I wanted an opinion on how many schools phd programs one shud apply to and what my strategy should be (I am limited to Canada for personal reasons). You seem like a straight A student, which I am not. However, a Phd in Accounting is where I am heading to. Any advice for the B+ students with my aspirations ?
