Profile: Can I Have Some Objective Judgements Please
Hi,
I am looking to get admitted in Fall 2008 for PhD in Management Sciences/ DBA or PhD in Information Technology Management/ Engineering Management / Information Science / Information Systems / MIS. The following are my details: Age: 22 Undergraduate Degree: Bachelors of Business Administration (Honors) Specialization: Finance University: Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India (5 Star NAAC accredited but nowhere near the IITs) Undergraduate GPA: 70% Class Rank: 4 out of 150 (meaning that 150 BBA students) Relevant Courses: 1. Introductory Calculus 2. Quantitative Techniques for Management 3. Introductory Statistics 4. Operations Management 5. Project Management 6. Enterprise Resource Planning and Systems Mgt. 7. Business Information Systems Graduate Degree: Post Graduate Diploma In Computer Applications Institution: DOEACC A Level (AICTE-DTE, Govt. of India scheme) Graduate GPA: 70% (This PGDCA is very tough !!) Relevant Courses: 1. C Programming 2. Computer Architecture and Organization 3. C++ Programming 4. Data Structures in C 5. Systems Analysis and Design 6. Operating Systems 7. Data Communications and Network 8. Database Management Systems Other Academic: Associate Studentship in Mathematics University: Indira Gandhi National Open University (largest university in the world) GPA: Have not received yet (expecting around 70-80%) Relevant Courses: 1. Advanced Calculus 2. Linear Algebra 3. Differential Equations 4. Real Analysis 5. Advanced Probability and Statistics 6. Numerical Analysis 7. Discrete Mathematics Professional Certifications: 1. Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer 2. Sun Certified Java Programmer Work Experience: 1. 3 Years Full Time (4 by the time I enroll ) by running my own company (Welcome To The Official WebPage Of S.S.Solutions Inc.: Customized IT Solutions For Construction Managers.) [First company to offer such project management services in India. Research Lab Assistant: For 3 years under professor for developing and implementation of college MIS. Teaching: None TOEFL iBT: 119/120 GRE: Test on 11th October 2007 GMAT: 700 (most colleges take GRE which is why I am taking the GRE. In that case, I will not report GMAT scores to any colleges if this be too less a score) Recommendations (all personal and top class): 1. Head of The Department of Construction Technology, JU 2. Head of the Department of Management, JU 3. Director, Folios International Inc. (Former Employer) I am coming straight out of undergraduate (3 year course). Under my opted course structure, I can take the courses for the PGDCA (2 year course) along with my normal undergraduate degree. I can fulfill all the course requirements, take all the tests and get all the marks but I will be awarded the PGDCA only after I complete my undergraduate degree. So, tell me, in light of the above, what schools can or should I even think about applying to. Also, what realistic GRE scores are preferable in this strategic mix (I know that the more the better but still, a bare minimum) Last edited by Ancalagon The Black : 10-08-2007 at 08:11 PM. |

you seems to have good profile.
If you got good results in gre like 800 for quants I think you would get into good program . but I am curious to know that how do you have 3 year full time work experience if you still 22 years. did your undergraduate program part time one? or anything else? |

Thanks asa_sl:
I got 700 in verbal and 770 in quant... I have my own company for the last 2 years so I think that counts as full time work ex. Also, my undergraduate program is not part time but the timings are adjustable so I did 40 hours of work/week in my previous job for 1 year... so thats like 3 years of work ex... |

Did I understand your post, you only have 3 years of undergraduate experience?
Just in casual conversations with adcoms in business schools; they already seem slightly wary of admitting people without some sort of graduate work already................having only 3 years of undergrad work might hurt. Then again, I might have misread your post. |

I am from India where the normal undergraduate is 3 years long. In addition, I have done a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (60 credits) Moreover, I have taken 32 credits of mathematics courses in another university to supplement my quant skills...
