Question How essential is an MA for Fin Phd... is it just to get mathcourses done or more?

Is masters really needed to get into a good finance phd program? If a person done the necessary math courses at undergrad level, would that person gain a lot from a masters program?

desimba is on the way!
It is not essential at all if you have covered the requisite math courses in your undergrad such as calculus of multiple variables & linear algebra. If you haven't then going for a Masters is likely to be important or at the very least taking these courses through a community college or a 4-year college.
