New to this forum, so I would like to thank everyone for the wealth of info.
I'm looking at a Ph.D program in Finance, but worry about my age. I will be 30 if I start (cannot apply for 2008, have to wait till 2009 for job related reasons). If you are familiar with the Ph.D project, it is an initiative to get minorities to complete Phds in business. According to their website, they are very open to accepting people who have been out of school for a while. Is this wishful thinking from them? Is it a liability to be 30 as an applicant? Some info about myself: BS Econ/finance, currently completing a Masters in Statistics while working full time. GRE stinks, 1400 but only 750 quant, will repeat, as I took it three years ago. I would aim for tier 2 schools like Rochester, Maryland, and mayber higher ons such as Northwestern, Duke, UCLA, or UCB. What would these universities think of people going back to academia after such a long time? |

Thanks for the feedback, Bayern. I hope you are right. I will probably not apply this year for a Ph.D, will instead graduate from the M.S. and take it easy next year, while I decide where to apply (and, IF I should apply)
thanks again |
