Advice sought on who I should get recommendations from

Background: Engineer from Indian Institute of Technology + MBA from a top 20-university in the US & currently working in consulting

Planning on applying to 6 Strategy programs.

Question for the forum: Who are the best choices for my recommenders?

My current plan is to have 2 recommendations from 2 profs in Strategy and am open on who I will get the 3rd recommendation from.

Some possible tweaks that could be made to the above list are:

1) Yet another Strategy professor
2) A prof in Statistics/ Quantitative methods
3) Someone in Mechanical Engineering for whom I was an RA while I was at Purdue
4) Another prof from a different department within the business school(marketing/ accounting) who can give me a very enthusiastic recommendation
5) A former boss of mine with whom I worked on a project for >4 months

What is the best subset & possible combination? And should I go above the normal 3 recommenders and try submitting 4?

Would sincerely appreciate the group's thoughts on this topic,
SB

I would go with no. 4; like you advised me on another post, it'd be best to get someone who would write enthusiastically about you ! And better yet, they are an academic!

Would appreciate other responses too. Guys and gals, please give me your thoughts on the topic of what is the best set of folks to be chosen for the recommendations: 3 profs in Strategy/ 2 profs in Strategy & 1 from Quant methods/ 2 profs from Strategy & 1 from Mechanical Engineering? Or could some of those be from somebody who is in a different department but will recommend me enthusiastically or should I seek some from a former boss of mine?

Thanks for your responses,
SB

as I said the Boss is Ok.

I would choose
1) the most famous prof. of strategy being sure he can write an excellent letter
2) the prof. of quantitative methods
3) your former Boss.
