Ancalagon, when you contact the faculty at these schools, what are some questions you ask? More insight about the program? Often, many of these professors already have websites which discuss their research, so much of your questions about their research can be answered by browsing their websites. So what else? Thanks for sharing!

Well, I make sure that I read up on the profs before contacting them. And only those profs whose research coincides with mine. Since, I have conducted research in 3 broad avenues, I generally find a prof or two doing similar studies (I am a big fan of case study oriented research as opposed to theoretical only)

Then, I email them and I introduce myself. I give a link to a paper or two of mine which I have uploaded on my web server (I never email resumes or anything)

What I am really looking for are hints whether those professors are willing to look for someone like me in their research. Since my programming skills are very good, I make sure to harp on that and draw similarities between my research and how it could be extended on similar lines to something which that prof has already done...

Its hard work but I am sure that some time it will pay off...

Umm, I have 3 strands, economics - where I researched into water resource management and policies in my home state a particularly raging issue in the legislative assembly right now wrt taxation, management science where I researched into the risk and uncertainty analysis of a heritage building restoration project where I happen to work on and thirdly in information science and technology where I have researched into the development of a web based construction management system of a new kind developed by myself in my company.

I have 3 published papers in each category and each paper in each category builds upon the previous paper.

Hey Hey !! Whats happening my doubtful friend? I have no news. Its really surprising. Almost everyone on the forum has got some sort of a rejection or acceptance or interview call but I am stuck in on the cold. There is radio silence and complete static. I do not know what to make of it.

Weird.

Don't worry dear Ancalagon. I'm in the same situation as you so far (no rejects, no admits).

And not to keep derailing this thread anymore, I know of two entrepreneurship programs: London Business School and Indiana.

There's a Technological Change and Entrepreneurship offered jointly by Carnegie Mellon and the Technology University of Lisbon.

I know that is difficult. But for all of you who have not received any news, relax. I looked carefully into last year news dates, and - particularly for top 20 programms - there were no news until the end of February or the first days of March. Besides that, I have many friends how are now doing their PhDs at top programms who did not receive any news until March. I think it is not the time for doing the hara-kiri yet.

I believe that almost all PhD programs in the top 15-20 Bschools and many more that I have not checked have an entrepreneurial component in them. Having said that, a PhD is, in itself entrepreneurial in nature.
