What to expect from interviews?

Hi all,

I'd like to apply for a Finance PhD in the UK and was just wondering what to expect from the interviews (after the slim chance of being short-listed of course)...

What kind of questions should I expect?
Can/Should I prepare for the interview?
etc.

And... 1 more question... UK universities explicitly state that a GMAT/GRE is not a requirement for the programme... but... is it wise to do one anyway? In other words: although it's not a requirement, would it be a bad thing not to add a GMAT/GRE score (I know... reverse psychology... )

I got an ok GPA (top 1%)... couple of letters of recommendation... MSc in Finance... couple of months of international research experience... and a 4 year old GMAT score of 650... (I messed up my math back then and got a score of 40 or something... anyway...) please let me know whether I should add this score, redo the GMAT, do a GRE, or just leave the GMAT out...

I hope you guys can help me out!

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

Since there are not that many schools in the UK which would have a strong Finance program, I would suggest that you should reach out directly to the admissions officers at the specific places you are thinking about and ask this question to them. They will have a better answer for you than random folks on this board. Having said that, I will also be blunt in saying that a 650 GMAT would be seen very poorly in relation to that of your peers if you are applying to a doctoral program in Finance. In that case, you are better off not including the GMAT score at all rather than include something which will definitely hurt your chances.
