And Econometrics being a rigorous sub-discipline, you would benefit considerably from having a paper in that field rather than a field in Finance. Often the feeling is that the student can pick up knowledge of Finance during the program whereas it becomes more difficult to pick up knowledge of the quantitative tools used in research such as calculus, analysis, etc.

Your logic sounds very convincing. My paper is on "The impact of R&D on patents across all the states in US." It's basically a term paper for Econ course but the professor says it was pretty good and if I work on it for few more days, it would be worth publishing. He will co-author it. Thanks.

Teazer, I agree with you. Let's see how it goes. Thanks for your valuable comments.

asa_sl, I think if you have the habit of reading a lot, then good score in verbal is not tough at all. But my verbal score was not as good as I expected. Thanks.

Teazer 's dreams are becoming reality.
Standard rate is $15/ hour. Still, even if you work for nothing at interesting research, consider the increase in expected future cash flows by getting better reference letters & something else to write on your SOP!
