Ancalagon, you're suggesting that if one have not been contacted for interviews, s/he is practically out? I kinda know that this holds true with bio-related programs, but I have no idea about b-schools.

Well, I am suggesting this based on a few examples from people from my university. One guy went to MIT and was called for an interview. Another, went to Stern and was called for an interview. Note, these are all phone interviews although I have heard that alumni can take interviews as well...

Alumni interview? Sounds like an MBA interview and not a PhD interview...

Hi all,
No I dont think every school interviews every shorlisted candidate. I had written about this before to the forum and someone had replied that it really depends on the school and one of his friends got accepted to Wharton without an interview.
I have recently been accepted to Carnegie Mellon without any interview. So I dont think we should be stressing out. It may be different for MBA of course, I am pretty sure alumni interview is MBA.

No No, I am not talking about MBA, these guys got direct calls from US - phone interviews. Their LOR writers also got phone calls asking about presently conducted research etc. Since our school is pretty much a small knit community, we know whats happening even in other departments.

Their was one guy who went to UPenn and he got an interview in New Delhi. But it was for PhD.

On the whole, I should say that it differs from school to school so lets not speculate (as it is, this suspense is killing me)

International but I'm currently in the US. It seems they're paying for the trip. Not that sure if you're coming from outside the US (my guess is they would)
