Well, I gave my Letter writers My Resume & a Generic statement of purpose so they could tie their letters into mine. All 3 knew me really well, so thats all I did.
Hi,
For veterans, please help me out. What information do you supply your letter of recommendation writers apart from your CV and any possible work you did with them? That is, do you hand them a copy of your transcript or provide an unofficial transcript of courses/grades taken? I have worked with professors but I was not necessarily their students except for one of my recommenders.
Thanks for letting me know your thoughts.

I did provide them with my Statement of Purpose because they were able to incorporate some pieces from my SOP in their letter of recommendation, e.g. as an international student, xxx has an interest in issues in international economics and even has some preliminary topics that he might want to pursue for his research. Also if you are close with some of your professors, you may want to provide them with a list of the schools to which you are applying and get their advice on whether you should be considering other programs as well or not. That way not only do you get their advice but because they have been a part of your application process, they feel more invested in the effort.
