At a purely superficial level, I would estimate that the IS department ranks much better than the business school as a whole. I personally feel that it should be a no-brainer to take Case Western over Colorado. Having an IS undergrad, I think to myself: "to what five schools would I have applied if I wanted to do an IS PhD?" And I can easily say that Case Western would have been up there for me along with Georgia State, Minnesota, Michigan, and Maryland.

Just curious: Would any more of the Business IS PhD familiar here post your lists of Tier 1, 2, and 3 schools? I would love to get a gauge on people's perceptions.

I would also like to see such a list of programs. Sure, there's the UTD journal-based ranking, but I wouldn't mind seeing some other opinions, too.
