Finance PhD: Kellogg Vs Ross
Which one of these has higher reputation?
1) Michigan dominates in terms of no. of publications in top finance journals. 2) Placement records of Kellogg are not so impressive (I couldn't find the detailed data of Michigan on their website/brochure) 3) Strong economics department at Northwestern is advantage (I think) with Kellogg. |

Seriously, this is not a good way to decide which offer to accept. Not by poll nor by pubs.
I have learned that stability of the department, availability of resources (read: advisor), and aligned research interest are far far far far more important. |

You are right tkkoh. Actually, even before posing my post here, I was inclined to go for Kellogg for the reasons you mentioned and some personal ones. Only that, now, I think my decision has been vindicated

Tkkoh's absolutely right, so I probably shouldn't mention that Michigan placed two finance people at Chicago last year. Northwestern's a great school though, so I'm sure that you can be very successful if the "fit" factors are there.
