Sorry, I seem to have misunderstood the intent of your original post. I had thought you had some impossibility to make your decision, not that your inability had to do with it being a really hard decision to make. My bad .

But she came and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, help me." And he answered, "It is not fair to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." She said, "Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table." Then Jesus answered her, "O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire."

I chose Washington. The faculty there is young and doing cutting edge research.

Congrats. Olin has a superb faculty, and a great program.

One main concern is the crime and social issues.
The city of St. Louis has one of the highest per-capita crime rates in the United States.
According to FBI statistics it ranked third in 2005 in the country's highest murder rates for cities above 250,000 (trailing Baltimore, Maryland and Detroit, Michigan).Crime and social issues of St. Louis, Missouri - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I worried about that, but I visited Wash U a couple of weeks ago and then all worries disappeared. The area around the university is wonderful, and the places where students hang out are really good neighborhoods. You won't see the bad part of St Louis unless you'll make an effort to do it.

Ya I have heard the crime prone area is on the east i.e. where the downtown is. Also, I read on some forum that the university is in St. Louis county
and not St. Louis city which stated that the area around the university is pretty safe and students roam around freely without any worries. This includes the regular hang outs where students frequent.

say, there are already two of you on TM who are going to WUSTL for finance. Do you know how many new admits the Finance stream takes each year? I ask because I know an acquaintance who was waitlisted in the same program, and is trying to get off the list.

As far as I know they accept between 2-3 admits every year for finance.
