Prep courses for PhD in Accounting !

Hi Everyone,

I see Analcagon and a few others discuss the basic courses required for a PhD in finance. Was just wondering if anyone investigated what courses would be basic and great building blocks for an Accounting PhD...(Aside from the fact that most schools do have a required set and you can take a few extra ones).

I would reckon the standard set of maths/stats/econ that goes along with preparing for any standard PhD in Business program.

More than that, I do not really know?? Maybe accounting classes? And doing good in them?

Here's a quote from Stanford's website:
"All students are required to have, or to obtain during their first year, mathematical skill at the level of one year of calculus; one course each in linear algebra, analysis, probability, and optimization; and two courses in statistics."

Also, I've heard that PhD level accounts are increasingly using econometrics, so I would add an econometrics or regression analysis class.
