Marketing PhD... Advice for a beginner

I have been preparing for econ and finance phd all along until I noticed some marketing profiles in this forum few days ago. I basically have no idea on marketing phd programs. Where do marketing PhDs usually go for jobs? I also do not have much idea about the preparation required for marketing? I have all the standard econ and math classes needed for finance phd. What kind of marketing or psych classes does one need? I only have one marketing type class till now... Consumer Behavior. If required, I may be doing research with the same prof this summer, so that he may give me a LOR. But, before that, can someone please give me some idea on the usual admission criteria for marketing phd?
