Is GRE 800 V, 640 Q, good enough?

I have an 800 V, 640 Q, and a 5 on the Analytical writing for the GRE. I am interested in getting into a Business PhD in Business Ethics or Marketing.

I don't have a business degree, but I have some Math/business courses (calculus, marketing, ethics). I have a B.S in Communication from Boston University (magna cum laude, GPA 3.57) and a MA in Theology from Catholic University (GPA 3.89). I can get good recs and strong research interests.

What are my chances of getting in at a top school? Is the Quant just too low, or will my Verbal help?

Thanks!

Yes, it is good enough.

Concentrate on your LORs. You will likely need at least through Calc3 for a top school, although I admit my experience with marketing is very sparse.

Thanks. I don't know if this matters and I forgot to say, but I am female. Would being a woman help or hurt?

You need at least 700 on quant. part of GRE for top schools. Being a woman makes no difference in business PhD, as far as I know.

Oldman is on the way!
Couple of things to investigate:

1) What are the averages of the schools you want to get into
2) Do you want to be considered for fellowships? A lot of schools have competitive fellowships available based on GRE scores

On another note, how did you prepare to score an 800 in verbal?? That's insane. I'm taking my GRE in 3 weeks, please advise!
