Finance @ Rochester is very well reputed. I remember having researched the school some while back and I was very impressed with the rigors of the program and the quality of its alumni. It is one of those schools where I would say the MBA rankings diverge sharply from the rankings of their doctoral programs. And while all this is true of their PhD program, I am assuming that some of it rubs of on their MS program as well.

I understand Talkdirty's concern. MA in econ@NYU is a classic example. yes the doctoral program there is among top, but the MA program is their money generator. |

Well, you might be correct.
However, I think that the MS Finance program gives a very nice opportunity to take some advanced courses. i.e. you can probably take some PhD level courses in the Finance dept, which would be a great experience given the quality of the program. Also, I am not sure about econ, but with a MS in Finance I think that the job opportunities would be rather good. Anyway, you bring up a good point and applicants might need to be wary of that. |
