    Funding Question

Lurker here. I guess you could say I've been procrastinating on my apps but I've been working throughout the semester...just have the submit button to click on a lot of them.

Quick question on funding: if the website or application doesn't explicitly state there's a separate part for funding, or the application just has a yes/no box for funding, is there really no other process to apply for funding beyond filling out a FAFSA next year?

I'm just getting a bit nervous as I'm a first time applicant and don't want to mess anything up; my first deadlines are early January, which is coming up super fast.

    Thanks for your help!

PhD programs generally don't consider financial need in giving out funding. The admissions committees just look at who they really want and give money to those people if there isn't enough for everyone.

If you're not funded by the department, however, filling out the FAFSA may be able to help you access need-based loans and grants.

There is always external funding. Look on your school's website.
