Princeton average GRE verbal score

Browsing last years results (I made a perl script to help do it faster), I see the following scores for students admitted to Princeton:
(Q/V/AW)
800/740/4.0
800/680/4.0
800/670/6.0
800/770/5.5
800/740/4.0
800/680/4.0
790/510/3.0

mean Verbal = 684
median verbal = 680

(note the last one had a very good graduate gpa from Latin America)

Perhaps they were thinking about SAT scores. The median SAT verbal for Princeton and Harvard is around 790 I think.

I would imagine those are better scores than most prospective English PhD's get.

They use a special type of weighted average that gives more weight to perfect scores on verbal.

LOL. I totally agree.

In any case, don't worry about that number.
