I don't know how much time is required for an official visit, so in that regard absolutely trust polka. I know that commute pretty well; if he can block out 90-100 minutes for a fast (read walking while eating) lunch and travel and times things properly however, it should be possible to get from NW to UC. The other way is usually a little quicker unless you go in the early morning.

It is, of course, his choice. I just think that if he really wants to visit both and he can block out a little time it should be possible.

Well in addition to the reverence for "an old TMer" I know polkaparty too and he is outstanding and deserves all praise in this area of grad admissions.
