Exams can always be rescheduled if 100% of the class agrees to move it to a different date. Awfully strange that the exams would be so bunched together. Usually, you wouldn't have two on one day in the same dept.
Don't forget about the AMS 205 exam if you're taking the course.

Does campus cafeteria provide fresh and diverse kinds of salad? I am almost vegetarian now, so I am afraid that I do not have much to eat.

I am not going to speak to a cafeteria that I've never been to, but the city of Santa Cruz California is going to have plenty of vegetarian food.

There are a few dining halls around campus and they do provide vegetarian food. I believe the food does get mundane as there are limited options.
There are also coffee bars/cafes around campus that serve vegetarian and vegan food.
However, downtown has the popular Saturn Cafe that has a variety of vegan/vegetarian options.

Although I've only visited Santa Cruz and haven't spent any time at the on-campus eateries, I definitely agree that you won't have any trouble finding good vegetarian cuisine in Santa Cruz (or any coastal CA city). In fact, in SC it might actually be easier to find a good vegetarian restaurant than a good steakhouse.

Indeed, Carl replies promptly and kindly. I guess we fitst year students do not have to buy 2nd edition of monetary theory and policy now. He is planning to use the third edition if it is available by January when he teach the first year macro. If it isn't available until latter, then he will probably circulate the relevant draft chapters to students in the class.
