walt526, if the conditions of this fellowship gives you extra access to or an "in" with Wooldridge, then they are advantageous rather than restricting! Todd Elder is also great. And I would expect a fairly broad interpretation of "the economics of education." After all, the faculty aren't interested in forcing you to work on something you don't find worthwhile, and they will want you to pursue the best ideas you come up with. This sounds like a pretty good situation. Certainly, it's worth discussing the details when you visit and if possible speaking to other students who have held the same fellowship.
