Can my profile get me into NYU/Duke/LSE MA Econs?
Hi all, I have heard that it's much easier to get into MA Econs in a top US school compared to PHD Econs programmes. I'm aiming for NYU/Duke Terminal Econs programme in particular and would like your view on the chances I'll get in. LSE is also within my considerations.
GRE: 800Q and 690V. AWA 4.5 GPA: 3.89/4.0, BSc Econs Work Experience: 2 years as an economist in a central bank letter of reference: probably going to ask for 2 from my professors and 1 from my supervisor. They will probably be mediocre, not too spectacular Research: 1 publication Math courses taken at undergrad level: Waiver for basic stats/calculus Intermediate Maths for economics (A+) Real Analysis (B+) Linear Algebra (B+) Differential Equations (A-) Economic Analysis of Capital Investments (A) Econometrics (B) Other Econs major courses I got an A average |

I think you'd be competitive for some top PhD programs as well. Your background and numbers look good, don't limit the thought of competition limit you to an MA. If you're interested in a PhD at all, I'd say take a shot.
