That's weird. I got an email for an unfunded first year admit and it said the mail was being sent to 14 people. So 26 funded first years, 62 unfunded first years and 14 unfunded first years on top of that - and more to come as they work through the pile?

Ah, I see. So you got funded at Minnesota but not Wisconsin? Interesting! Does it look like Wisconsin is more competitive than Minnesota this year? Or does Minnesota just accept more people than other schools?
Accepted: Hong Kong U ($$$$)(Declined), UC-Irvine($$), Texas($$) // Out: Columbia, Berkeley, Northwestern, BC, Michigan, Wisconsin, Stanford, NYU, UW (DGS withdrew my app after knowing I have better offers. DGS knows me already so it was informal) // Waiting: WUSTL, UCSD, UVA, Minnesota (Waitlisted)

Yes, I think it is interesting too. Given Wisconsin only gave out 26 funded offers this year, and the funding is not that great (12.5k), I think they have a huge budget cut this year that they simply don't have enough money.
    In: Minnesota($$), ASU($$$), UW-Madison(unfunded 1st yr), Maryland($$), UCLA(unfunded 1st yr), UCSD(?)
Out: Yale, Northwestern, UC Berkeley, Princeton, Stanford, UPenn
    Wait: 4 more to go

Yeah, that makes sense! I was hoping if I got waitlisted at UMN, that might translate to having a good shot at Wisconsin or Michigan... didn't take the whole budget stuff into consideration though .

Wisconsin tends to admit more and then cull later so the high number isn't too surprising
: Kellogg (30K), Toulouse (Declined), LSE (Declined), BU (Declined).

: UMN, Duke, Wisconsin-Madison, Rochester, Berkeley, U Michigan, Columbia, Princeton, Maryland (soon), MIT, Stanford, UCLA, NYU.

    : Wharton, Wustl.

I got the email to 14 people, and my understanding is that we are on a wait list for funding.

So you are saying that the 14 offers are distinct from the 62 unfunded offers in that we are waitlisted for first year funding? That is good news!

If we haven't heard should we assume rejection?

My email says "we are still working through the application pile", but with over 100 offers made, I'm not really sure what should be expected. There could still be hope though, I'd say.
In: Wisconsin, UPenn (waitlist for funding at both)
    Out: NWU, NYU, Maryland
    Waitlist: Minnesota
