Suggestions
I've had a fair amount of changes over the past year and was curious to see what TMers thought about where I'm thinking to apply and if they had any suggestions/advice. I think I should be able to get in somewhere in the 10-20 range but that's what I was hoping you guys could tell me.
FYI, i'm planning on applying to the following: minnesota, michigan, NYU, UCLA, UCSD, wisconsin, brown, duke, maryland, BU, george mason, vanderbilt, ohio state, texas, penn state (these might change, but i thought i'd give some idea of where i'm looking and see what you all thought) Here goes: PROFILE: Type of Undergrad: Top 20 private, weak econ program Undergrad GPA: 3.91/4.00 Type of Grad: N/A Grad GPA: N/A GRE: 780 Q, 600 verbal, 4.5 writing Math Courses: -Calc I-III (A,A,A) -Linear Algebra (A-) -Probability and Statistics (A) -Intro to proofs course (B+) -ODE - will take in upcoming semester but should get an A -am taking a grad level course that is essentially a real analysis course, should get at least a B+ but hoping for an A Econ Courses: -Introductory Econ/Principles of Micro, Principles of Macro (A,A,A) -Intermediate Micro (A) -Interm Macro (A) -Game Theory (A-) -Econometrics (A) -Econ Policy (A) Other Courses: all A's Letters of Recommendation: 3 well known, all from top 15 institutions; 1 I write my senior honors thesis/had in class, 1 i RAed for awhile with, 1 i just had in class Research Experience: -senior honors thesis (will present my own paper at the end of the year) -RAed for faculty member for a year and a half but just basic stuff -summer internship at public policy think thank Teaching Experience: grading assistant for principles of micro course, tutored for 2 years Research Interests: applied micro |
