I spent some time studying at LSE and was actually pretty disappointed with the student culture. Considering the academic heritage of the place, I was expecting other students to have genuine interest in economics itself. Unfortunately most of them seemed far more concerned with
a) status (perceived prestige of whatever job offers they receive); b) money Particularly among the undergraduates I've never seen such an intense concentration of narcissism in my life. Are the masters programs a ripoff? Depends on your personal utility function and budget constraint. Not sure about the claims that everyone and their brother gets an offer from LSE. Unless the statistics on the website are false or LSE has an incredibly low yield, it doesn't look like the acceptance rate for most programs is very high. I wish they'd post offers/applicants rather than matriculants/applicants though. Loads of British people get confused by this and think applications per place is equivalent to the acceptance rate. |

Not that I disagree with the general idea of your post, but repaying in 6 months is optimistic to say the least... If you can make about 20,000 pounds in 6 months of extra money to pay back the loan, I'd like to know your secret!

Well, only 2 months into the course and I have a 48 K(exc bonus) offer with |Citi's business analytics' team. I've spent around 4 years in business anly. before, so it helped. But, definitely don't think I would have made the cut as early anywhere else. |
