    UC San Diego funding

Has anybody gotten an offer other than 50% tuition and $8K TA-ship and fee waiver? Do you have any idea if it is possible for UCSD to improve that offer, say increase it to $16K TA-ship or something?
In: UCSD ($), UCLA ($), Maryland ($?), UNC-CH($$), Arizona ($?), UVA ($$), USC ($$), UT Austin ($?), UC Davis ($), UC Irvine ($$), UC Riverside ($), UC Santa Cruz (no $)
Waitlist: UWM; Out: Yale, Cornell, Northwestern, UCSB, Michigan, Princeton

Same here. My guess is that other than for the few who got the university or other special fellowship, they opted to cut funding back for most people rather than cut the number of admits. Not sure if enough people declining would make more money available, or if any extra is likely to go to anyone who might be unfunded now. I guess it can't hurt to ask? As least you have full tuition + 16k TA after first year if you pass qualifiers... I'll probably opt to work somewhere else during the summer (rather than compete for the 3k RA) to make up some of the difference.

Anyone else going to the flyout?

One of my classmate and I got the same funding package as yours. I am pretty worried that I cann't get enough funding. In that case it will be very difficult for me to get into UCSD . What's going on with UCSD?

I was offered the same funding, too, and I haven't heard of any different offers from UCSD yet. It's a bit of a pittance, but since they seem to be offering the same package across the board there might not be much leeway for negotiation; California seems a little under-funded at the moment...

I probably can't afford it either but I guess that's why they included the FAFSA link...what else are loans meant for?

I heard that UCSD obtains more research funding from Federal government than any other among UC Universities. One of my classmate (the one also admitted by UCSD) got admitted by UCLA and UC Berkeley, both with funding more than $20,000. So I guess UCSD would not be that worse, if not better, right?
