Anyone attending PhD in Economics at Texas A&M this Fall09?

Hi, if I obtain funding I will be attending Texas A&M PhD in Economics this Fall 2009. Would like to meet and get in contact with people that will be attending Texas A&M's PhD in Economics this Fall 2009 as well.
Have you already found housing? On campus or off-campus?
What are you guys doing right now?
When are you traveling to College Station, TX?
Did you obtain funding from Texas A&M's Dept of Econ?
I'll be happy to chat with you here.

trjohnson is on the way!
Hi. I'm not in A&M's econ program, but I know many of the students and faculty. I'm currently doing a masters in statistics.

Feel free to contact me about anything you'd like that you need advice on (with the exception of intricacies of the econ dept itself). I've been in College Station for about 5 years (I did my undergraduate here too).

hi, i have once seen your reply in another thread and you are quite helpful. So where do you recommend for me to set down myself? It seems the econ department is far away from the main campus. I have seen some info on a site named "Tradition" which looks like school doom. Could you give any idea? I'll come to TAMU at about early Aug.

Hi I've been to college station briefly. But would appreciate if you recommend on campus or off campus housing options. Advantages and disadvantages. Costs, distances to the Econ Dept, security issues, etc.

Do you recommend phd students to live alone or to share an apartment with other phd students, master students, undergraduate students? Do you recommend to buy meal plans at Texas A&M U?, because the Econ Dept is really far from main campus, and in case one doesn't have a car then you must be waiting for the bus to go to main campus to eat and then wait again for the bus to go back to the Econ Dept. This will be a large loss of time. The problem is that there are no meal facilities close to the Econ Dept. At the Econ Dept we heard they only have a small cafeteria. Thank you for your assistance
