    Minnesota funding question

The admissions letter mentions a fellowship in the 1st yr which combined with TA pay and grader pay puts the stipend up to $20k. But in yrs 2-5 no such fellowship is mentioned - does this mean we could expect more like $15-16k in yrs 2-5?

Yep. Not enough for a life of luxury, but enough for a life. I suggest taking out a loan and smoothing consumption since your expected future wage is high.

If only things were so simple as in the models.

On another note, the rent is really cheap in Minneapolis, so $15 should (barely) suffice.

But this doesn't include summer appointments for years 2-5 right? So it could be higher?

Well the summer grader appointments (a little less than 2k) are pretty much offset by the small student fee + health insurance we have to pay ...
