University of Toronto, a good program for Phd preparation?

The regular stream MA program in University of Toronto raises several doubt.

It's only 8 months. It does not require a thesis. The math prep course seems fairly easy. Nowhere to find the placement record for this program.

Can you guys give some evaluation, or insights? How does it compare to UBC?

The problem is I am admited to the regular stream. I wish I could change to doc

u should write a letter to martin osborne and tell him that you really want to take the phd level core courses instead of the MA level ones.

But even with the PhD-level courses I wonder how the placement of the regular MA goes. It's only eight months, no thesis, and probably little research exposure as well (which I guess would be dominated by the PhD and Doc Stream students). When you apply again you're basically still using your undergrad portfolio.
That's my guess. Hope someone who have been in the program could give some more insights.
