I could use some advise from you guys. I am having a pretty rough time with the gre preperation. I did the gre prep software test 1 and got Q - 730 - 750 and V- around 400
![]() Now I studied Q only using Kaplan. I make silly mistakes but there's always about 3 questions which I have trouble with. Stuff I haven't seen or haven't seen sich high school. Please advise me which other books I should use to bring the score to 780 - 800. I'm willing to study any book you guys can refer. I haven't studied at all for V. Would it make a difference for a Econ PhD if I get a 500 or a 600 or even a 650? I am from Canada, but my mother language is not english. (or french) This is a nightmare for me. I thought I was great in math, but it seems that I'm not. ![]() Please advice. Many many thanks in advance. |

Ok I took the Kaplan course as a part of the summer program I did and took 6 of their CAT exams. My Quant scores: 650 690 710 730 710 730. I took the GRE 1 time and got an 800. Don't put a ton of stock in those scores I feel like they are a bit deflated. My roommate this summer had similar practice scores and got a 770.
I feel the way I got better was taking practice tests then looking at what I got wrong and why. |

As far as verbal goes, 600 is great. Anything below 500 may be a liability.
I am using Barrons GRE book to study. They do a pretty good job covering the algebra and trigonometry. Their weakest area is probability. |
