Hi Oatto! I am currently in the MMEF program in Sorbonne. Having a degree in Industrial Engineering is not a problem. In fact, 3 of my classmates are from Engineering and all of them have a master's degree in Engineering. About your profile, I believe you have a really really good chance especially with your math background. However, remember that your chances of getting accepted depend on your standing relative to the other applicants. For this year, 7 of us have a master's degree already (Engineering/Economics/Math). The other 8 students' background is a bachelor's degree in Math/Economics/Finance.
It has only been a little over a month since classes started and what I can say so far is that it is very mathematical (as you may have expected). And yes, a lot of courses entail proof-writing. Note also that we have long days in school (Each course is held at least 4 hours a week. All in all, I spend at least 26 hours a week in the classroom). Nevertheless, the rigorous training I get here is exactly what I wanted (minus the long days in school though. Paris is such a lovely city. You wouldn't want to spend all your time stuck in school of course). I am really happy with my decision to study here. |

Hello maroonandblue
Thank you very much for your answer. I truly appreciate. I am very glad to know someone in the program who can really give me an inside information. Now, I have further questions. Does the admission consider verbal scores on the GRE? I am really having a problem in that part. I heard that it is extremely difficult to find a room in Paris. Do you or your classmates have a problem with finding the accommodation? Also, what are the average living expenses per month? Since I currently have zero knowledge of French, do you think the French intensive course in the MMEF program allow me to purse M2 in French taught? I’m interested in the M2 MMMEF in quantitative finance track. What is your plan after you finish M1? Your response would be very much appreciated. Oatto |
