Interdisciplinary Economists
Do any of you ever have doubts about going into the economics realm? I enjoy economics and empirical economics. However, I have sometimes wondered whether or not it was my innate ability. Although I consider myself analytical, I seem to be more of a non-linear thinker than other economists I've come across.
I have thought about Law and Economics or a PhD in Public Policy since they are more interdisciplinary. Any other suggestions? |

From what I gather, once you get the training on how to do research, you can branch out on your own by reading the relevant literature. At least for inside the economics field, but it could be the same for interdisciplinary stuff.

Lots of student drop out of econ ph.d. programs and do very well in fields such as sociology, political science, etc. This isn't inter-disciplinary per se, but rather evidence that the economics tools can be used in lots of other fields successfully.
