740 will work for Wyoming if you're otherwise solid. I had a similar blunder (760s-800s on the practice consistently) and got a 740 and took it and ran.
You might try Kentucky (not sure if top 50, maybe slightly lower).

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear in my initial post. I intend to take the GRE again, but I only have the time/money to take it once more this fall. Therefore, I want to plan for my scores not improving (having another bad day is not out of the question).
I am looking more at MA programs in Econ or Stats right now. I am not sure if a PhD is right for me, so I would like to at least get an MA while I decide to improve my job prospects. Also, I would prefer going to a top 40 school for my PhD if I do decide to pursue that route. So, I am shooting for a few top 40 PhD programs as well as MA programs that have good private placement (which I am struggling to find).

I've narrowed down my list of schools to 15. I am only applying to PhD programs that have accepted students with lower GRE scores but are still in the top ~40. The rest are ARE/Applied Econ. I would like to narrow my list to 10 and add some safeties. Can anyone suggest a safety or two for a MA in Econ/Ag Econ?
Here is the list- Toronto, Queens, UBC, Miami OH, Michigan State (PhD and ARE), Cornell AEM, Vandy PhD, Ohio State Ag Econ, Wisocnsin ARE, WashU PhD, UVA PhD, Chicago MAPSS, UMN App. Econ, Purdue Ag Econ.

For MA safeties, you could include UNCG's applied econ program. They've placed at Davis' and Berkeley's regular econ programs as well as UNC's and UVA's (so good top 50 placements). On the env/res side, they also have Holland and Heutel (a new hire) who've done good work on ethanol, and environmental impacts of different fuel standards. Also, I'll plug CSU here and mention the ARE masters program here. I had a 740 and was in a similar predicament and it's done great things for me

I will definitely look into the UNCG program. The economics of ethanol/biofuels is one the the topics that I considered for my senior thesis, but no professors here work in that area. Can you, or anyone else, speak to recruiting that occurs at MA programs? Looking at placement data, it appears that a lot of MA graduates work near their program. I assume this is because of preference, but I am unsure of the recruiting that happens in these programs.

As far as private sector, most mid-level terminal masters programs do generally place in the local region. Those schools with a reputable PhD program sometimes place more broadly because they have connections in more areas of the country.

Sorry to distract you guys but in a top 10 Econ program, what is the cutoff for the verbal section? If an international student gets only 460-480 in this section but the rest of the application is extremely good, will he stand any chance???
