I didn't actually post this for a critique or spelling lesson, folks. I doubt this nit-picking is going to encourage other people to post examples.

Sorry asquare! As for the statement of purpose itself, mine actually has a paragraph similar to what you posted. Talking about how previous work-related experience was useful and eye-opening but that academia suited me better for reasons X, Y and Z.

On another statement of purpose note, most schools seem to have a 1000 word limit so my statement of purpose is about 900 words (with short paragraphs). However, I just noticed thatColumbia has a 500 word limit. It's not much fun cutting your statement of purpose in half!

Stanford on-line system does not accept the statement of purpose to be more than 2 pages !
