Would it be entirely inappropriate to ask if anyone can post his/her statement of purpose on here just so those of us who never really wrote one can know what it really is? And I mean a statement of purpose for a PhD application to a top 10/20 Econ department in the US. Possibly someone from the last year's crop who's gotten admits in these departments?

I have actually written a statement of purpose before but it was for a very different course altogether. And those usually found on the how-to-write-your-statement of purpose websites are far too unsubtle to be convincing!

FYI I have read all the advice there is to read on how to write - on this forum and others - but a real, successful statement of purpose would be good to see. All help appreciated. Thanks

He got into UW. He encourages and posts feedback on his statement of purpose as well.

Yeah, ive been online. I was trying to pull some sarcasm - without the use of smileys. My point was only that for a new user it is impossible to know if anyone "trusts" me, and that I still really hope someone will publish their statement of purpose online.
