US Master's programs are strictly dominated by UK, Mainland European, and Canadian Master's programs.

There are some mid-level masters programs that have good 20-50 rank placement that also fund.

UNCG, UNLV, some of the Cal State schools (but I don't know how their funding is doing now with the whole budget thing) are all just a few that come to mind that have had some good placements.

some public master's programs don't fund, but if you get in and work as a TA/RA, they waive the out-of-state fee, which substantially reduce tuition.

I am trying to explain my low AWA score in my statement of purpose. Is it ok to approach as follows?

In my undergrad study I took many writing intensive courses which include government and politics, public economics, population and health economics to name a few. I did well in all of those courses. I scored very high in the writing section of TOEFL exam. But my score in analytical writing section of the GRE was quite unexpected.

What else do I need to say? Any suggestions?
