Yes, it is a well-known school, and doing well in courses there (especially PhD micro) will help you with adcoms at any level, including top 10. Not saying it'll make you a sure thing or anything, but it will help.
I'm heading to Boston College in the fall, and am looking for some advice. Is Boston College known among admissions committees? Specifically, will getting good marks help me at all with getting into universities in the top 10? Sorry, I don't really know how most universities are viewed in America, especially outside of the Ivy League and a few others. Also, I may have the opportunity to take a PhD level microeconomic theory course while I'm over there, although I will probably have to convince their economics department that I am capable. Would this be a good idea?
