    Profile Evaluation, please help

    PROFILE( international studuent):

    Type of Undergrad: Top 50 liberal arts college in the US
    Undergrad CGPA: 3.54/4
    GRE: V=560, Q=800, AW=3.5
    Math Courses(undergrad-level): Calculus 3 (A-), Linear Algebra I (A), Proofs (A) Statistics and Probability Theory (A-), Abstract Algebra (A-), Number theory (B+), Real Analysis (A-) Differential Equation (to be taken)
    Econ Courses (undergrad-level): Intros (A-,A), intermediates ( B, A-), financial investment (A),corporate finance (A),money and banking (C+), international trade (B+), econometrics(B+), economic history (A-), economic thought (A)
    Letters of Recommendation: Three unknown professors from Top 50s
    Research Experience: just course papers, senior thesis
    Teaching Experience: economics tutor, calculus tutor
    Research Interests: financial economics, portfolio theories, derivatives
    SOP: standard
    Other: good experience in investing in traditional securities and derivatives
    concern: low CGPA and economics GPA, mediocre GRE score, little research experience, no recommendations from famous economics professors,

    I am interested in applying to both financial economics programs and finance phd programs. What range of schools should I apply to?

    I really appreciate your opinions.

    Given the factors that you mentioned in your "concern" section, I don't think admission to top30 Econ programs is possible. I am not familiar with Finance PhD admissions, but I think that would be even harder than economics admissions.

    Thanks a lot for your reply! Your opinion agrees with mine. My target is economics programs ranked around 50 and finance programs ranked between 50 and 100. Do you know any financial economics programs that fit me? I searched a lot of schools but found few financial economics programs in my target range. I appreciate you help.

    Your fine for 50-100 finance programs, and I think you have a good shot at 30-50 econ phd. You probably would get fellow ships at finance phd around 100.

    Yeah I thought your profile looked pretty good. Around 30th seems feasible to me. Your GPA in the courses that matter is clearly above 3.7, maybe exclude that one C+ but money ad banking is probably the least important class you've listed.

    Tier 1:INSEAD finance phd; Texas AM finance phd; U Rochestor Finance Phd;UNC financial econometrics phd; Boston U, financial economics phd.
    Tier 2:Rice U Finance Phd; Syracuse Finance PhD;Virginia Tech finance phd; U alabama, finance phd; U Mass, Finance Phd; indiana, financial econ phd;
    Tier 3: Stony brook QF phd; CUNY-financial econ; Notre Dame, econ phd ; Clemson U, financial econ phd; U delaware financial econ phd; Brandeis U, business econ phd\

    Do you think it is feasible? Should I delete some schools or add some others?
