2012 Jeeves Award

I picked this up from a 2010 thread. I find it appropriate:

Although you can't really put it on your CV, I thought it might be nice to recognize the TMer who has demonstrated outstanding team spirit (even as admissions become increasingly competitive). Personally, I've learned a lot from all of you, so the criteria might be:

1) helpful commentary and advice

2) overall team-oriented behavior

3) positive outlook and/or humor

4) don't take admissions results or profiles into account

5) non-moderator status (moderator breaks ties)

6) etc.

Although its still early, and many admission results are pending, and thus many more opportunities to show team spirit and support, I'll give my early vote to MathEcon12. That meme thread was really something!

For the record, I think it is much too early to start making nominations, but it's good to have this around. I don't want to step on ecoetz's toes, but I think we should use this thread to start thinking about our nominees, rather than making nominations, going into the admission season (whenever it starts), because that's when emotions really start flying around.

Agreed resource. I started this thread before seeing your suggestion in the 2012 Sweat Thread. Lets keep this around then, but I still say MathEcon12 deserves an honorable mention (at least) for the meme thread! Lol!

Much appreciated! I'm happy the meme thread successfully relieved some of the tension that's been building up.

Well, it really just traded one type of anxiety for another. Now, I log on to TM with my fingers crossed that a new meme will be uploaded. Classic addictions symptoms, really.

Damn, beat me to it Peot!

I stand behind my vote for ME12. I will have to say Peot deserves and honorable mention, especially for Peot - Tinichat. I'll extend an additional honorable mention to godlesschum for helping me be thrilled about the prospect of living in Philadelphia. Peot was helpfull in this regard too, lol. Cannot wait to see the cockroaches, hahahaha!

Thanks for the love everyone. I'd like to cast my vote for Peot, because without the TinyChat, I would have likely gone insane during the month of February. It was, hands down, the greatest idea of the admission's cycle. My honorable mention goes to Economists, because (s)he has been very helpful giving advice/information to many people throughout the past few months.

I don't pay enough attention to individual's forum posts that I can credibly say if anyone is a good nomination based on what they've written here,

but Art Vandelay has also stuck out to me in terms of being very helpful in peot's chat room and I nominate him based on what I saw in there.

I'd say toss up b/w Economists and block. Honorable mentions to applicant12, whatdoido and resource (if only he were on tinychat more often).

1) Economists 2) MathEcon12

It is not even close any more...just check out Economists last couple of posts, especially in the "non Top 50" thread:

Not only are they well-written and informative, they are long, like novellas!

I also nominate godlesschum as troll of the cycle, for his work on EJMR. I am 99% certain he deserves it.

Last but not least, we should recognize art as the most well-adjusted person on this forum...even when plied with Jagger! :peach:
