What is the latest research using dynamic programming

I am interested in using dynamic programming methods (also known as Bellman equations or recursive methods) in a model for my masters thesis, but I am not sure if people are doing research in this area currently. Does anyone know what the latest research is that uses recursive methods and who is doing the research? And is it a burgeoning research area or am I better off doing my thesis on another topic?

I did some searching around and saw a working paper by Robert Shimer ("Search intensity", 2004), but I haven't been about to find much else.

Anything you know about the research in this area will be helpful! Thanks!

It's pretty standard, isn't it? Sargent and Ljungqvist's Recursive Macroeconomic Theory sums it up. A lot of DSGE modeling is based on recursive methods.

EDIT: Unless you're talking about non macro stuff... are you?

EDIT2: For non macro stuff, many non-cooperative repeated game models use recursive method. Just as an example, many political economy models use this. Check out Acemoglu and Robinson's Economic Origins of Dictatorship and Democracy for some political economy models that use Bellman equations.

yes. it is the workhorse method of macro. S&L go so far as to dub dynamic programming 'imperialistic' in their book.

Thanks! Yeah I'm looking at both macro and non-macro research. Do you have examples of any recent papers? Sargent and Ljungqvist was published in 2004, so their references are a bit old.

Anything in macroeconomics that is dynamic and has a time stable utility function with a boundary problem. If your intersts are more methodology/mathematics.you probably should start with lucas, stokey and prescotts because it is a text on mathematical economics as opposed to macroeconomics.

Wow the bots are becoming more clever - they copy and paste random sections from within the thread so that their post seems both weird and legit at the same time.

Interesting...but what is the person operating the bot gaining from this random copy/paste?

In some forums, you need to have a minimum of posts to send pms.
