Need help finding PhD (Financial Economics) programs

I have an interest in finance and looking to apply to financial economics programs or atleast schools with a specialization in financial economics. Some of you may be wondering why not apply to finance programs. I am. I just want backups in case the finance programs don't accept me.

The PhD programs that call themselves explicitly "Financial Economics" and have a distinct curriculum are rare. The only one I know is at Carnegie Mellon, and it is really good.

In many schools there are professors at Economics departments who specialize in financial economics, so I guess many people interested in financial economics just do PhD in Economics at those schools.

Bocconi PhD Economics with concentration in Finance

But the name of the degree doesn't matter much really. If you take any pure Econ programme in a department where a few good advisors in Financial Econ are available, you'll be able to do Financial Econ there.

I guess Chicago Booth would be one of the best possible choices!

I agree with Tommaso. Chicago Booth is probably one of the best places in the world to do finance or financial economics. The joint program between the econ department and the business school has had some amazing placement recently. This year they placed at Princeton, NYU and London Business School.
