J-PAL SA Internships

Hi all! Long time lurker, first time poster here. I have applied for a J-Pal SA internship. Previously,I have found many discussions on J-PAL RA positions. However I could not find any link(s)(if you can provide them, it will be much appreciated) discussing their internship positions. What do they look for in a candidate? How important are software skills(like STATA)? It's primarily for field positions,so how much would language skills matter?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help:pig:

I worked for IPA (JPAL's sister organization at Yale) for a summer so I only know a bit. But for the RA positions, Stata was very important. Languages are a big plus if the languages you can read correspond to the language of a project country with an RA opening.

I'm not sure what links you would like. Best of luck getting the job.

My question, more specifically is-what are the requirements(like STATA,local languages) for an intern(and not a RA)? I mean for a RA position knowledge of STATA as you said is crucial. But can the same be said for an intern?

Hello. I am joining as an RA in India in May this year and I have absolutely no prior knowledge of STATA (I guess my position requires more of field work than data analysis). I'm expected to hire a team of 20 surveyors who will typically be helping me with my research and data collection/analysis. But I will, obviously, need to learn STATA asap. I wanted to know how hard it is to learn STATA and begin applying it immediately. Does the team at JPAL train you or are you expected to pick it up along the way?
