Side note, I am am 30 years old, in case that matters at all. Type of Undergrad: 2nd tier south Atlantic University Undergrad GPA: 3.82 Type of Grad: Economics with Minor in math Grad GPA: N/A GRE: 167 Q, 160 verbal, 4 analytical Math Courses: Calculus I,II,III (A,A,A), Linear Algebra(B+), Diff EQ(A), Numerical Analysis (B+), Intro to Stats (A), Mathematical Statistics proof based (IP), Advanced Calculus(next semesters), Math Stat 2 (next semesters), Intro to proof (dropped it last fall very early in the semester for personal reasons) Econ Courses (undergrad-level): Inter Micro, Inter Macro, International Macro, International Trade theory (A,A,A,A,A), econometrics(A-), Strategic Decisions (B+) Topics in theory; Applied Econometrics (IP). Some other courses and A in all of them Other Courses: Logic Java Programming Letters of Recommendation: 1 from Graduate Director phd from UoWashington (Was her top student in one class and had a few conversations with her but we aren't super close), 1 from a professor who got his phd from my university 4 years ago (Had him for 3 classes and was always his top student, he was happy to write me a letter), 1 from a recent phd grad from Vanderbilt (Was her top student by far, she likes me but i dont have a very close relationship with her, she was happy to write me a letter). All are econs professors. Research Experience: None Teaching Experience: None Research Interests: Econometrics, micro and macro in that order SOP: In process... Concerns: Small, lesser known school + department. the dr for intro to proofs. Taking advanced calculus in my last semester Other: Applying to: - completely reaching: ucla, ucsd, CMU, brown, duke (do i have any business apply to any of these 5) - with a lot of luck: ut austin, PSU, Michigan State University, uc davis - with a little luck: UNC, Uof Pitt, Vanderbilt, UofWashington, uc irvine - Decent shot to get in: North carolina state u (raleigh), FSU I have enough money saved up to apply to 12-15 schools and want to narrow the list above to this many schools. Do you guys think the category i have is a somewhat accurate description of my chances? I particularly would like your opinions on what you think my chances are for UCLA, CMU, Brown, UT austin, UNC, Vanderbilt and University of Washington? Thank you so much.
