Rollinstone
Finishing my masters in math at a top 100 liberal arts school and this semester I've had a couple of sloppy grades (C's in a complex analysis course and a measure theory statistics course). Grades in other relevant classes (PhD real, topology sequence) are A's. Grades in other math classes are either A or B+'s. GRE: 168Q/164V, no economics research, recommendations from math professors. I'm interested in theory and feel like I've put myself in a difficult hole to get out of. Suggestions for applications? Or do I even have a shot? chateauheart
The tricky part is that the lack of econ research/letters will keep you away from the top schools, but schools outside of the top 30 usually don't have a theory presence (even if they do, it's very hard to get an academic job afterwards). There are some exceptions like BC, BU, Rochester, CMU. You should look more into those.
