International applicants - location preferences

Hi. I am an international applicant intending to apply this coming cycle. Just wanted to ask fellow international applicants whether location preferences are featuring more strongly considering recent developments. Anecdotally, I know a few who have opted for non-US schools as they are racial minorities and are concerned about the current climate within the US.

 

I'm curious as to whether (i) for international applicants, whether what I have heard anecdotally is indeed part of a broader trend, and (ii) for international students already enrolled, whether you feel that these are legitimate concerns.
