chocolate
Did anybody get an email from Harvard Business School after taking the GRE?
applicant15
Yeah I got that email too. My understanding is that it's extremely difficult to get into HBS for an econ phd so I am confused as to why they sent out those emails just based off of GRE scores. chocolate
it also mentioned "background" tho. But yeah I agree it s very difficult to get into HBS and many ppl should be applying too
applicant15
What other background information would they have though? I remember filling out that I'm studying economics but I don't remember putting any other relevant information in. But I don't remember exactly what information it asked for after finishing the test. YaSvoboden
I actually remember getting a similar email from Harvard Law after taking the LSAT. I think the motivation there was for them to pull a few extra applications from people that wouldn't bother applying to 1) admit some people that are otherwise excellent with a test score that is only like 95th percentile, 2) simply increase their number of applications to have a lower admissions rate. I don't think the second point makes sense for a PhD, so they probably want people to apply and not "self reject".
chateauheart
Unless you're a under-represented minority (and American) and they specifically mentioned that as a reason for soliciting your application, chances are it's just a ploy to increase application numbers and decrease admissions rate. Ranking whoring.
